What is Team Trials (TT)?

Team Trials is a PvP game mode where teams of Umamusume compete in 5 different racing distances (Sprint, Mile, Medium, Long, and Dirt) to achieve the highest Score possible.

When first playing TT, only 1 slot is unlocked for each distance.

The second row of slots is unlocked when reaching Class 2, and the third row in Class 3.

Promotion Line is the cutoff for being promoted to the next Class.

How does scoring work in Team Trials?

Scores in Team Trials consist of a Base Score, supplemented by various additive bonuses & multipliers.

Base Score

Example of an Uma’s Score Details post-Team Trials run. Each source of points has a Base Score, which then gets multiplied by the Ace, Opponent Rating, and Support Bonuses.

Beat Target Time

Every Track in Team Trials has a predetermined Reference Time.

By beating this Reference Time, we can get additional Points.

100 Points are awarded for every 0.1 seconds faster than the reference time, capped at 2000 Points.

1st to 2nd Place difference

If our Uma wins the race, we will get a point bonus based on how close the race was. Races that are either very close or won in a dominant fashion get the most points.

Good Positioning

Each running style included on your team can get a Good Positioning Bonus during early, mid, and late-race, which all give 1000 Points each. This is a potential 3000 Points per Uma, which is why it is important to diversify our team’s running styles!

Strong Start

If an Uma has a strong start, she will be awarded 1000 Points. Having either the Focus or Concentration skill greatly increases the chance of getting this bonus.

Long Shot

Umas at 8th Favorite or below that place 3rd or better will receive a bonus of 4000 Points.

Rushed

There is a 500 base Points penalty, along with 100 additional Points for every 0.1 seconds spent in the Rushed state.

Score Multipliers

Every base score listed above gets modified by an additive percentage from all sources listed below.

There is a Support Bonus that scales with Support Card levels.

Winstreak Bonus

Every additional race won in a row provides a Winstreak Bonus.

  • 2 Streak Bonus = 2%
  • 3 Streak Bonus = 3%
  • 4 Streak Bonus = 4%
  • 5 Streak Bonus = 5%

Opponent Rating Bonus

The biggest boost to our total will be the Opponent Rating Bonus, which is determined by the relative strength of our opponents. The formula for this bonus is:

Opponent_Rating_Bonus =Rating_oppRating_own+(200,000Rating_opp)

For example, if our Team Rating is 220,000 and our Base Score is 3000:

  1. If we choose the Top Option, with Opponent Team Rating = 230,000
200,000 - 230,000 + 220,000 = 190,000
230,000 ÷ 190,000 = 1.21 multiplier

Score = 3000 * 1.21 = 3630 pts
  1. If we choose the Middle Option, with Opponent Team Rating = 220,000
200,000 - 230,000 + 220,000 = 190,000
220,000 ÷ 190,000 = 1.1 multiplier

Score = 3000 * 1.1 = 3300 pts

This is why the top option should always be picked when playing Team Trials.

Team Building

When choosing your Team Trials Umas, make sure to consider:

  1. Using different running styles within each distance team. Overlapping styles makes you miss out on the Good Positioning Bonus, which is 3000 base score per Uma.

  2. Umas with consistent Unique activation conditions take priority. Umas such as Mejiro Ryan with strict place conditions are suboptimal for Team Trials.

Since Umas score more for placing well, they should be racing distances and tracks that fit their Aptitudes. Raising an Uma’s aptitude increases the Team Rating, which raises Opponents’ for a higher Opponent Rating Bonus. For example, it is beneficial to use pink Sparks to bring an Uma’s B Dirt aptitude to A.

Meeting Stamina Requirements

A vital part of scoring well in Team Trials is meeting the Stamina requirements in longer distances by using Umas with recovery Unique Skills. Umas like Super Creek and Agnes Tachyon can invest less into Stamina, allowing you to not use a Stamina card and spend less turns Stamina training.

Determining your Aces

As previously mentioned, the Ace Uma will receive a 10% Score bonus. Therefore, our highest scoring Uma should be set as the Ace. We can determine our highest scoring Uma as follows:

  1. Click on the “Race History” button on the Team Trials page
Race History button on the Team Trials page.

  1. Go to “Score Info”, note down each of our Umas score performance and average it out across a large sample size. Remember to deduct 10% from the scores of your current Ace.

On the other hand, our Aces are also the Umas that appear on our banner when another player encounters us. We can simply set our favorite Umas as Aces to display on our banner.

Meta Team Trials Umas

The most important factor to consider for Team Trial Umas is whether they have a reliable Unique activation condition. Additionally, good Stat Growths and recovery Uniques allow Umas to allocate stats elsewhere and race more to afford more skills.

There are two sections below: One for Umas with recovery Uniques, and another for Umas with reliable Unique conditions.

Umas with Reliable Unique Activations

These Umas are meta because they have very reliable unique activations, which is important for our team's score.

  • Oguri Cap (Original) - When run as a backliner, Oguri Cap will almost always proc her Unique, on top of having great Stat growths. She is also one of the few Umas that have a B or better Dirt aptitude, making her easy to slot into Dirt teams.
  • Maruzensky (Original) - Maruzensky has one of the easiest Unique activation conditions, only needing to place 5th or higher. This allows her to be played as both a Front Runner or Pace Chaser. She also has amazing stat growths and a D aptitude in Dirt, allowing her to be slotted into Dirt teams with a few pink Dirt sparks.
  • Maruzensky (Summer) - Unique condition only requires one recovery skill proc in the mid-race. Buying 2 or more white recovery skills will almost guarantee this. Like base Maruzensky, she has a D aptitude in Dirt which allows her to be slotted into Dirt teams with proper Sparks.
  • Gold Ship - Unique will nearly always proc if she’s played as an End Closer. Her stat growth is also excellent for Long races.
  • Fuji Kiseki - Unique is very well-suited for the Pace Chase position, requiring to be in the top 3 and have another Uma either in front or behind her in the last corner. Her Stat growths are also good.
  • Agnes Digital - Unique requires her to pass 2 Umas at the end of the race, making her ideal as a Late Surger or End Closer. She is one of the few Umas with an A aptitude for Dirt, making her the prime candidate for the Dirt Team Late Surger slot.
  • Mayano Top Gun (Wedding) - Her Unique is distinctive in that it has 2 different activation conditions. When overtaking an Uma at the final Corner, being in the front half will provide Velocity while being in the back half will provide Acceleration. This means she can be run as a Pace Chaser, Late Surger, and End Closer. She also can guarantee Fast Learner by having 500 wit when the “Maya’s Love Advice?!” event procs. This is not unique to the Wedding version, making the Original version of Maya also very strong for Team Trials.

Umas with Recovery Uniques

These Umas are meta because they are able to cheat the Stamina requirements, allowing better allocation of Training turns.

  • Super Creek - Super Creek is one of the strongest recovery Unique Umas. Her Unique, Pure Heart, is a 7.5% recovery with a 2-4 position requirement. This means she is most suited as a Pace Chaser. She also has built-in Swinging Maestro in her Potentials, allowing her to only invest around 750 Stamina for Long races.
  • Grass Wonder (Fantasy) - Fantasy Grass Wonder’s Unique is very similar to Super Creek’s, but activates when she is below 4th place and is overtaken by another Uma. This makes her most suited for being a Late Surger. In addition, she has two Gold Recoveries in her Potentials. Similar to Super Creek, she can run around 750 stamina for Long races.
  • Agnes Tachyon - Agnes Tachyon’s recovery Unique only provides 5.5% recovery, which makes her more suited for Medium races. Along with her innate gold recovery Skill, she can invest only around 650 Stamina while still succeeding. Tachyon’s unique also has a relatively strict 3-4 position requirement, locking her to the Pace Chaser style.
  • Special Week (Summer) - Summer Special Week’s unique procs after activating 2 other Skills while positioned 6th or better. This makes her ideal as a Late Surger or Pace Chaser. Just like Tachyon, her recovery is only 5.5%, making her better for Medium races. Unfortunately, she does not have any innate recovery Gold Skills: She needs either another source of recovery Skills or raise the Stamina requirements to around 800.

Deckbuilding

Building a deck for Team Trials is slightly different from deck building for other content, since you need to prioritize the quantity of Skill Activations over quality. Support Cards that provide cheap, consistent gold Skills are often prevalent in Team Trials decks.

Deck Compositions

These are the general deck compositions for the different distances.

TIP

If the Uma has 20% speed growth, a Speed card can be dropped in favor of another Wit card.

  • Sprint: 3 Speed + 2 Wit + Riko / Tazuna
  • Mile: 3 Speed + 2 Wit + Riko
  • Medium: 3 Speed + 1 Wit + Riko + 1 Stamina
  • Long: 3 Speed + 1 Wit + Riko + 1 Stamina
  • Dirt: 3 Speed + 2 Wit + Riko

Distance Stamina requirements

These recommendations are on the safe side. Late Surgers and End Closers can have less Stamina.

  • Sprint: 450 Stamina
  • Mile: 600 Stamina
  • Medium: 800 Stamina + 1 Gold
  • Long: 950 Stamina + 2 Gold
  • Dirt: 650 Stamina

To more accurately see if our stamina is sufficient, we should simulate our Uma using Umalator. See the Stamina Requirements section of Deckbuilding Advice for more info.

“Meta” Team Trials Support Cards

  • SSR Kawakami Princess - This card can be used with anyone, even at no uncaps. Her third support chain event rewards you with Center Stage, a cheap and consistent gold Skill with no style or positional requirement.
  • SSR Mejiro Dober - This card can be used with every Late Surger. Her third support chain event rewards you with The Bigger Picture, a cheap and consistent gold Skill. This card can be skipped on King Halo, as she has it in Potential Lv5.
  • SSR Tazuna Hayakawa - This card provides Concentration. Although it can be tricky to fit into decks, it can be a replacement for Riko for Sprint Umas.

WARNING

Concentration from her final Date is RNG, and can give Focus instead.

Using this card for Concentration may require several runs.

  • SSR Curren Chan - This card can be used with any Sprint Uma. Her gold Skill, Perfect Prep, has no style or position requirements and procs consistently.
  • SSR Nishino Flower - This card provides Beeline Burst, the gold Skill for Straightaway Adept. This skill has a very low cooldown of 30 seconds, and can activate twice on longer tracks. The downside to this card is that like Tazuna, there is a chance that the final Event will instead result in Straightaway Adept.
